Botanical Name Schisandra chinensis | Organic Status Certified Organic | Country of Origin China | Plant Part Berries

100% Certified Organic: Schisandra chinensis (five flavour fruit) is a fruit bearing vine. Its purple-red berries are described as having five tastes: sweet, salty, bitter, pungent and sour.

Schisandra isn’t typically used as food but for medicinal purposes through Asia and Russia for generations.

In traditional Chinese medicine, Schisandra is considered beneficial to qi, the life force or energy inherent in all living things. Its though to have a positive impact on several meridians in the body including the heart, lungs and kidneys.

Is commonly used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, menopause, stress and depression.

Taste: Schisandra is sometimes called “the five-flavoured berry”due to the unique and complexed taste of it’s berries which are: bitter, sweet, sour, salty and hot.

How to enjoy: To make a Schisandra berry tea, brew 3gm of dried berries in hot water for 40 minutes. You can also add other herbs like ginger, cinnamon, licorice root and turmeric for a powerful concoction. My favourite blend is schisandra, rosehip, rosella and rose petals.

Shipping: Our Organic Tea & Herbs are delivered in sealed, air-tight pouches.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC:- We supply Certified Organic products for those seeking alternative remedies and therapies for health, healing and general well-being. Certified Organic refers to plants grown without the use of synthetic or toxic substances for a three-year minimum period. Artificial colours or fragrances cannot have been added. If we look at the term "certified organic" on a label, we know it to mean grown and cultivated without the use of chemicals. The term “Certified Organic” is overseen by several internationally recognised bodies. ~Organic (non-certified) means a compound that contains a carbon atom. Carbon is found in anything that has ever lived. This means that anyone can call his or her product “organic” without legal consequence because as yet there are no governing authorities monitoring companies who abuse this terminology of organic~ Our supplier undergoes a strict auditing process annually to ensure they comply with the rigorous standards involved in being Certified Organic. ACO Certificate No: 274P. WILD CRAFTED:- Before there was “Certified Organic”, herbs and plants that were gathered free of herbicides, pesticides, detergents and other harmful chemicals were referred to as “Wild Crafted”. Wild Crafted botanicals are not farmed or sprayed with any kind of pesticide. They are wild, native and organic by their own nature and retain the positive attributes of plants grown in their normal habitat. Certified Organic herbs and plants are usually grown under ideal conditions on a farm and produced according to standards which translate into no harmful pesticides, fertilisers or GMO plants (genetically modified organisms) to enhance their growth. Yes they are healthy, but because they are grown under the best conditions and not necessarily in their natural habitat, they may not retain all the attributes of their wild crafted counterpart. Both Wild Crafted and Certified Organic products are free of harmful chemical additives and are much better and safer than their commercial grade counterparts. However, one isn’t necessarily better than the other.
